Lewis Cameron was born in Tomintoul in the parish of Kirkmichael, Banffshire on 13 November 1849 to John and Margaret. Lewis was a saddler (journeyman) to trade. It would seem Lewis had an encounter with Jessie Grant, some 18 years his elder, and the result was my Great Grandfather John Cameron. Lewis and Jessie don't appear to have married and I don't even think they were a couple. I've not been able to find out when Lewis passed away. I have an account from a lovely lady who I met in grantown on a visit to the museum who's sister recalls Lewis around the early 1900's still in Grantown and she thinks he died there.

Janet (Jessie) Grant was born in Cromdale & Inverallan on 7/10/1831. The daughter of William Grant and Margaret Fraser. It appears Jessie never married and lived with her parents at a croft 'Ballacha' just north of Grantown at Ballieward and Camerory. Jessie was living at 13 Castle Road, Grantown when she died in February 1902.
